Patricia Dean Biography:
This self-produced project has the distinction of being mastered by 2006
Record of the Year Grammy award winner Arnie Acosta. Recorded and engineered at
Eastern Sky studios in Orlando, FL by Dave Brown (featured in Mix Magazine),this
album has a warm ambience that makes it a pleasure to listen to. A
collection of choice ballads, bossa novas and swing tunes demonstrating
PATRICIA'S rich vocal quality in a setting reminiscent of the sultry intimacy of
the Julie London recordings of years ago. PATRICIA also happens to be an
accomplished drummer and is featured on several tracks. "Come Back My
Love" is an original written by her father the late Don Dean, Sr., and features
the gorgeous trombone sound of husband Herb Bruce. "Garota de Ipanema" a.k.a
"The Girl From Ipanema" has been reharmonized to give it a fresh sound with anauthentic reading of the original Portuguese lyric. "Close Your Eyes" has
an exotic, Middle Eastern flavor thanks to guitarist Mark Speights featured on
the Choral Sitar. A haunting interlude by clarinetist Jim Snyder pays homage to
the original Benny Goodman recording to give this track a reference to the past
with an updated sound. Pianist Charlie Prawdzik is all taste and bassist Jay
Mueller provides a solid groove on all but one of the tracks. PATRICIA
DEAN is a respected musician and vocalist who began her career at the age of 14
performing with her father and brother in the Tampa Bay area. A native
Floridian, PATRICIA has worked with Jazz legends Nat Adderley, John LaPorta and
Ira Sullivan. She has travelled extensively with her own trio performing
in resorts and on cruise ships, and has been featured in numerous Jazz festivals
throughout the country. She currently makes her home in Southwest Florida.
